One fine Easter Sunday morning, Cannesta Felton was born in historic Tuskegee, Alabama. She remained an only child, but she grew up with two cousins (who are as close to her as sisters).

During her childhood, Cannesta had the good fortune to travel to many cities and states in this country. These travels led to a great love of travel. In addition to acquiring a love for travel, Cannesta developed a love for words. She collected volumes of books and developed her skills as a writer. Cannesta carried these great appreciations into her academic courses and excelled in school. At Tuskegee Institute High School, she was heavily involved in the Science and Kiwanis Clubs, the school choir, literary groups, and the Xinos Organization of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Incorporated. Outside of school, Cannesta was active in the Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church and the Archonette Club of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Among her more memorable high school experiences, Cannesta dearly recalls being an honor student and a debutante for the Jack and Jill club of Tuskegee.

Cannesta chose to attend college out of state and returned to Alabama after earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Some years later she returned to school to earn a Masters of Education degree in Language Arts and later a Masters in Advanced learning.
